The Ocean Pollution Crisis.

8 million tonnes of trash annually finds its way into the ocean, killing 100 million marine animals, damaging coral reefs, and contaminating the food chain with toxic chemicals. Once trash enters the ocean, the majority of it sinks to the ocean floor where it cannot be removed; thus it is imperative we stop trash at the source.

When you buy a PANGEA product.

By purchasing a PANGEA Bamboo Outdoor Towel, you can join the movement and help us save the planet. For every $10 we raise, we clean up two pounds of trash from the planet and two pounds of carbon from the air. To date, we’ve organized 40 cleanups in 10 countries AND we’ve placed several river barriers in some of the most polluted rivers in the world. With your help, we’ve already collected and responsibly disposed of 37,735 POUNDS of garbage!

Solving Ocean Pollution with River Barriers.

Eighty percent of the trash that enters our oceans comes from 1,000 of the world’s most polluted rivers. By placing wildlife-safe river barriers in those 1,000 rivers and their tributaries, we can continuously block and remove the trash, preventing it from washing into the ocean and “solving” the ocean pollution caused by those rivers. Each barrier blocks an average of 20 tonnes of trash per year!

Made of Bamboo

Fast-drying: Our 100% bamboo fabric dries five times as fast as cotton.

Waffle weave: Our special waffle-weave fabric structure is what makes our towels more absorbent and faster drying than microfiber towels.

Super lightweight: Compact enough to fit in your pocket and light enough to pack along on all your adventures.

Ultra-absorbent: The PANGEA Bamboo Eco Towel 2.0 is three times more absorbent than microfiber towels.

Naturally antibacterial: Because bamboo fabric is naturally antibacterial, your towel stays odor free.

Hypoallergenic: Our eco-friendly bamboo weave is also hypoallergenic, which means it’s less likely to cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals

More eco-friendly: We’ve switched to eco-friendly dyes, our towels are even home-compostable!

How to wash my towel?

1. Use cold water only (better for the environment AND better for your towel’s longevity!)
2. Either air dry or dry on low (again, more eco-friendly AND gentler on your travel towel)
3. No fabric softener (bamboo towels are already VERY soft)
4. No bleach (harsh chemicals will wear it out more quickly, and bleach isn’t necessary to sanitize the towel because it’s naturally anti-bacterial).
Bonus Fact: Actually, these washing instructions apply to any natural fiber garments you might have in your closet, including hemp, bamboo, and organic cotton. Following these guidelines will prevent wear and tear, stop fading, minimize shrinkage, and make your natural fibers last longer.

Where does the trash go?

All the trash collected will be classified and audited by Sungai Watch. The data will be presented to corporations, consumers, and the Indonesian government to facilitate political changes against the greatest polluters. All trash will be sent afterward to recycling facilities to be repurposed or composted when possible.

Why Indonesia?

Indonesia is the second-largest ocean polluter in the world and the largest contributor to ocean waste per capita. 90% of that trash comes from the rivers. By tackling the rivers in Indonesia, we make the most effective contribution to prevent ocean waste around the world.
